Griffin Student-Athletes Recognized for Academic and Athletic Success

Six Griffin student-athletes were recently recognized for their achievements on and off the field by the College Sports Communicators (CSC) DIII Academic All-District Team and D3Baseball.com All-Region.

Each year, the CSC names student-athletes across Division III to the Academic All-District team to celebrate both athletic and academic achievements. To be nominated, student-athletes must maintain at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (GPA) while competing in 90 percent of the institution’s games/contests/sets played or starting at least 66 percent of the time. The following GMercyU Softball team members were named to the 2025 CSC Academic

All-District team:

  • Jocelyn Baumeister, fifth-year pitcher/second baseman
  • Shylynn Cordero, fifth-year utility
  • Hannah Smith, junior shortstop
  • Hannah Cohen, sophomore utility
  • Avery Schwartz, sophomore middle infielder

GMercyU Baseball team member Cooper Root, senior outfielder/pitcher, was also recognized for his academic and athletic achievements this season by D3Baseball.com. Student-athletes are nominated by their Sports Information Directors for consideration. Cooper was named to the D3Baseball.com All-Region 5 Third Team as a utility player.

Congratulations to our Griffins for their success on and off the field!
